If hate is misquoted
And children don’t sleep
A badge of authority
Is the devil’s cross.
Prickling the nape
In suppression’s attempt
But truth cannot fall
To placatory posturing.
I have witnessed
Ambition extinguished
Believing themselves
Undeserving of oxygen.
Language of the gut
Meets cold intellect
And coaxes the bravery
To spit bad medicine.
It was no weakling
Who turned the tables
On greed and duplicity
Fanning bright knowledge.
(Dedicated to my son’s friend who has been facing tough times back in South London. May the angel’s protect him and let the bullying stop now for everyones’ peace of mind including, of course, his Mum. Let this message also reach any other children and parents in need of courage and protection).

Your poem portrays perfectly that bullying is toxic! One of our sons was bullied by so called “friends”. When we moved away from that neighborhood he found new real friends and has found healing in playing a musical instrument. I pray that your son’s friend finds healing too. It takes time…

i was so angry when I heard about the school’s initial reaction which was to make excuses for the behaviour of the bullies, so i thought I would express and call for help rather than go down there and do something I might regret!
Thanks for your supportive and reassuring words and I’m glad that your boy got through it. Peace.
my prayers will be with your son’s friend! hope some reason trickles down the brain of those who are bullying him.
Thanks so much for your prayers! Peace.
