American PP Arnold was a member of Ike & Tina Turner’s backing group The Ikettes and went on to become known on the UK mod scene signing for blues/R&B record label Immediate. She decided to stay in London following a gig with the Ike & Tina Revue where they supported The Rolling Stones.
Arnold is best known for her beautiful reading of Cat Stevens’ ‘First Cut Is The Deepest’ which hit the UK Top 20 back in 1967, the year I was born. ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Alright’ is a well-loved Northern soul stomper and a tune guaranteed to lift the spirit. This is soul music!
