Good evening boppers. Did you heard this song before? Maybe, but not like this.
Spanky’s Soul Spectrum
This tune was getting a lot of attention a few years ago. The crate diggers have moved on long since, no doubt now knee deep in ‘sick’ Turkish psychedelia, Eastern bloc funk ‘bangers’ or break-laden Italian prog. This delightfully-exuberant cover version of Cream’s ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’ is well worth another listen; great music remains in the heart, regardless of trends.
Spanky Wilson who was born in Philadelphia, apparently got her nickname from the beatings her father gave her as a kid! During a career which started in the 60s and continues to the present day, she has collaberated with a wide range of artists such as Lalo Shifrin, Marvin Gaye and Sammy Davis Jnr. More recently she has featured on Quantic Soul Orchestra’s Mishaps Happening (2004) and I’m Thankful (2006).

Great way to start my morning! Thanks for sharing it
